What do you get when you combine election year politics with a small car dealer in a rural area, with a minuscule production budget? Well in this case, you get a spot that looks as if it cost thousands more that the budget allowed. (The budget for this spot was $350.) We took one professional actor and dressed him differently to be the “Dodge Guy” (a recurring character in a series of spots) as well as the “Chrysler Guy.” We saved production dollars by having Brad portray the moderator. We shot with a camera locked-down so we could blend two separate shots in post to make it appear that the same actor was on-screen in two different places/costumes at once. The American eagle logo was added in post, both to add some election-style ambience, and to mask the seam between the two shots. For a small-market, local spot, this ad went well beyond expectations.
